This project brings real experiences together through a collective effort. Real experiences are the things life is made out of, the things you touch, and interact with, the, little intricate things that we place so much value on. The things that other people could give a shit less about. Culture is so difficult to define as a whole, that there are entire studies of what the word actually means, but its simple. Culture is the value of the experiences that we gain from life, how we shape our community through our likeness in thinking. The more concentrated the value in these experiences the more culture becomes your own.
These are the little things that are usually the most meaningful in their ways to the most progressive thinkers in a community. The individuals who are the most free, most intense, and those creating the most impact in their surroundings. These similarities are a manifestation of collective energy, the appreciations in life outside of the screens, sketchbooks, wheat pastes, paint brushes, and spray cans. They are things like music, skateboarding, expensive beer, dirty things, sneakers, comedy, cars, cheap beer, old rusted things, clothing, clean things, things of simplicity, fixed gear, snap shots, a house party, things that have age and aesthetic, nature, good wine, urbanity, things of complexity, hip hop, indie rock, things that are shiny and brand new, classic rock, classical music, bmx, jazz, reading, martial arts, breakdancing, rock climbing, DJing, sampling, recording arts, traveling, snowboarding, architecture, and we all have that friend who has Anime movies and wrenches on a vehicle with a chrome muffler and says, “it’s JDM!” These are simply the things that drive passion in our lives, they are little things that we respect.
This project brings artists together through passion, and subcultural connections, its a display of the most creative and progressive individuals in contemporary art.
