Building on the Foundation
Beginning Friday March 26th:
Each month, Mergeculture Gallery and FWD Thinkers Music is set to bring a special fourth Friday event to Downtown Tampa that will include parking lot concerts, visual arts experiences, culinary pop-ups, and will eventually stretch all the way down Franklin Street into Downtown Tampa.
The theme for March is Optimium: “Favorable Conditions for New Growth.”
The series will provide a safe, outdoor series of events revolving around visual and performing arts for local musicians, promoters and artists to showcase their talent; and to grow the program collectively into a special cohesive monthly event.
The kick-off for this event will take place at the South Block of North Franklin in the Parking Lot of Oceanic Supermarket, and along the sidewalk of Cafe Hey and Mergeculture. The goal is to work with many other businesses along the Franklin Street Corridor as well as expand on Mergeculture’s relationship with Visit Tampa Bay, and the Tampa Downtown Partnership.
The lineup for the first event will feature:
The Peace Cult
Dj Dfaz from Wave Theory Collective
Hosted by Mike Mass of Wave Theory Collective
Perception of Wave Theory Collective
Dj Wally Rios
and Ari Chi
Inflorescence – an immersive installation will be opening this night in Mergeculture Gallery by the duo Illsol. Featuring a floral installation reflecting the theme of Optimum and celebrating the Equinox.
This will be the first time that the duo of Illsol will be creating an installation in their own gallery.
Illsol is an artist duo workin in the form of large scale murals and also the curators of Mergeculture Gallery.
Working closely with visuals for FWDTHINKERS Music, Selena is a live painter, oil painter, and creative visionary for Heightened Senses Tampa, a monthly event happening on the fourth Thursday of every month at Labyrinth Tampa.
Selena Ferrer will be working on a large canvas during the event.
Professional skateboarder and artist Kris Markovich will be live painting at the event, a four panel piece that will be auctioned off following the event.
Expect pop-ups and vendors onsite for special food drops – vegan options and meat lovers alike.
Expect local artists, jewelry makers and clothing pop-ups to be present each month along the Franklin Street corridor.
